There’s something incredibly special about photographing a family again and again as they grow. I first met this sweet family during their maternity session, when they were excitedly waiting for their baby girl. Since then, I’ve had the joy of capturing her newborn session and each family milestone along the way. Watching their little girl blossom has been such an honor, and every session feels like spending time with old friends.


For this shoot, we met at Cherry Creek Ecological Park, one of my favorite locations in the south Denver area. The soft light, wooden bridges, tall grasses and peaceful trails create the perfect backdrop for families who love a mix of nature and simplicity.


Their toddler girl, Daisy, was full of curiosity from the moment we arrived. She wanted to explore every bridge, every path, and every patch of tall grass. Toddlers are naturally on the move and I always encourage families to let them wander and have fun. Those moments of discovery often lead to the most genuine smiles and the sweetest candid images.


While we were shooting, her mom and dad laughed and followed along, knowing that Daisy had her own ideas for the day. After the session they told me they would be shocked if we got even one family photo with everyone looking at the camera. I reassured them that toddlers bring the magic and that beautiful photos don’t require perfection.


A few days later, I delivered their gallery and received the sweetest message from mom. She wrote:

“These photos are so beautiful!!!! You did an amazing job getting these shots with Daisy all over the place. We cannot believe how wonderful they turned out, you are so talented!”


Messages like this mean everything to me. They remind me why I love photographing families year after year. It is never about forced poses. It is about connection, joy, movement, and capturing children exactly as they are in this season of life.


Cherry Creek Ecological Park gave us the perfect blend of adventure and serenity, and this family brought all the love and personality that makes a session truly memorable. I am already looking forward to the next chapter with them.
