Winter is one of my favorite times of year for family photography. While many people automatically think of fall for family photos, there's something incredibly special about a winter session. The light is soft and flattering, the colors are timeless, and the cooler weather naturally encourages families to snuggle close together, creating genuine moments full of warmth and connection.
As a Colorado family photographer, I've photographed families throughout Denver, Aurora, Parker, Centennial, Highlands Ranch and beyond during the winter months. One question I hear before almost every session is:

The good news is that winter sessions are usually shorter than families expect, and I work at a relaxed pace with plenty of movement to keep everyone warm. Some of my favorite tips include:

- Avoid dressing them too early so they don't overheat in the car.

- Pack a favourite comfort toy if needed.
- Don't worry if little ones need a cuddle—that often creates the most beautiful images. Some of my favorite photographs happen during those genuine moments when children simply want to snuggle into Mum or Dad.
